TORONTO, Aug 30 (BestGrowthStock) – George Weston Ltd (WN.TO: ) is
buying Keystone Bakeries for $185 million through its
subsidiary, Maplehurst Bakeries, Canada’s largest food
processor and distributor said on Monday.

Keystone Bakeries, headquartered in Manchester, New
Hampshire, is a U.S. manufacturer and supplier of frozen
cupcakes, doughnuts and cookies and is made up of Freed’s
Bakery, Granny’s Kitchens and Heartland Baking.

“The combination of Keystone Bakery and Weston’s baking
operations in the United States and Canada will allow us to
better serve our customers in the North American sweet baked
goods sector,” Chairman Galen Weston said.

Toronto-based George Weston, the maker of Wonder bread and
Girl Scout cookies, operates two segments: supermarket chain
Loblaw Cos Ltd (L.TO: ) and Weston Foods, which focuses on fresh
and frozen baked goods in North America.
