Reid says ‘not optimistic’ about a US budget deal

WASHINGTON, April 7 (Reuters) – U.S. Senate Democratic
Leader Harry Reid said on Thursday he’s “not very optimistic”
about reaching a budget deal to avert a government shutdown
this weekend.

Reid made the comment to reporters after a meeting with
fellow Senate Democrats, following talks earlier in the day at
the White House with House Speaker John Boehner, a Republican.
“I’m not very optimistic,” Reid said.
