BUCHAREST, April 26 (BestGrowthStock) – Here are news stories, press

PRESIDENT MEETS PARTIES

President Traian Basescu invited parties on Monday for talks
about Romania’s National Integrity Agency, an EU-backed body
that monitors politicians’ wealth that is under threat after the
Constitutional Court issued a yet unclear ruling against it.

PENSIONS BILL

Romania’s Senate is expected resumes talks on a key,
IMF-mandated pension reform bill on Monday and could vote on it
by April 28. Once senators clear the bill, it will be sent to
the lower house, which has the final say.

EU FARM CHIEF SAYS DIRECT AID CAPS MAY BE ON AGENDA

Brussels will probably discuss plans to cap direct subsidies
to farms, but in a wider context needed to ensure fair
distribution of funds, EU Agriculture Commissioner Dacian Ciolos
said on Friday.

BANCA CARPATICA

Hungary’s OTP Bank made an offer to the main share holder of
small Romanian private bank Banca Carpatica to buy 70 percent of
the bank’s shares, sources said for daily Ziarul Financiar. OTP
declined comment, while Carpatica’s main shareholder, Ilie
Carabulea called the report an “alarmist rumour”.

RETAIL

Retailer Real, a division of German retailer Metro, will
open its fourth hypermarket in Bucharest this week, after an
estimated investment of 40 million euros.

INTESA SANPAOLO

Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo (ISP.MI: ) will resume network
expansion in Romania in 2011 and does not rule out acquisitions
to strengthen its position, the head of the bank’s Romanian unit
said.
