BUCHAREST, April 28 (BestGrowthStock) – Here are news stories, press

markets on Wednesday.

IMF MISSION IN ROMANIA

A mission of the International Monetary Fund is in Bucharest
until May 7 to review Romania’s 20 billion euros aid package.

CENTRAL BANK

Romanian central bank Governor Mugur Isarescu is expected to
give the opening speech at a conference on financial regulation
where the guest speaker is the Lord Mayor of the City of London,
Nick Anstee.

GOVERNMENT MEETING

The centrist coalition government holds weekly government
meeting at 0500 GMT with no major items in the preliminary
agenda.

BANCA TRANSILVANIA

Shareholders of Romanian private bank Banca Transilvania
(BATR.BX: ) are expected to vote on a proposal to raise the bank’s
capital by 392 million lei ($127 million).

Shareholders will also vote on a proposal to list shares on
the Vienna Stock Exchange. The meeting starts at 1100 GMT.

PENSION REFORM

Romania’s senate resumes talks on a key IMF-required pension
reform bill. Once the law is approved, it will then be up for
debate in the lower house, which has the final say. The bill
must clear parliament by end-June, as agreed with the IMF.

BANCA TRANSILVANIA Q1 NET SEEN AT 22 MLN LEI

Romania’s second-largest listed bank Banca Transilvania
(BATR.BX: ) is seen posting a modest yearly rise in net profit in
January-March helped by higher interest income, though
provisions continue to hurt.

AUTO INDUSTRY

* The Romanian unit of Ford (F.N: ) targets annual sales of
500,000 cars on the domestic market by 2016, said Paul Flanagan,
head of the local sales department.

* France’s Renault (RENA.PA: ), owner of local carmaker Dacia,
will launch its Renault Technologie Roumanie test centre near
its factory in Titu on Sept. 15, Dacia’s general director said.
Total investment in the centre is of around 100 million euros.

* Romania has potential to attract another major carmaker
after Renault and Ford, and there are signs that it would, said
Constantin Stroe, head of the local carmakers’ association.

* Carmaker Dacia, controlled by France’s Renault (RENA.PA: ),
plans to hike production of its new Duster car to 460 cars a day
in the second half of the year, from its current 260 cars a day.

It also plans to invest 73 million euros this year in
developing the Duster project, CEO Jerome Olive said.

ROMANIA BRD BANK 2009 DIVIDEND DROPS 62 PCT Y/Y

Romania’s second largest bank BRD – Groupe Societe Generale
(BRDX.BX: ) will pay a gross dividend of 0.27947 lei ($0.09) per
share, 62 percent down on the year, its shareholder meeting
decided on Tuesday.

FINANCE MINISTER’S HOPES

Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu said he still hoped
Romania’s economy will grow this year.
