Romania – Factors to Watch on Oct 13

BUCHAREST, Oct 13 (BestGrowthStock) – Here are news stories, press
reports and events to watch which may affect Romanian financial
markets on Wednesday.


Romania’s central bank is expected to release January-August
current account data.


Economy ministry officials are expected to meet Alexei
Miller, chief executive of Russia’s state-owned energy giant
Gazprom (GAZP.MM: ).


President Traian Basescu is expected to meet European
Commissioner for Employment and Social Affairs Laszlo Andor and
OMV’s (OMVV.VI: ) CEO Wolfgang Ruttenstorfer on Wednesday.


EU Farm Commissioner Dacian Ciolos is on a three-day visit
to Romania (until Oct.15). On Wednesday he is expected to hold
the closing speech at a conference on EU funds and Roma
integration, and meet Prime Minister Emil Boc.


The centrist coalition government holds government meeting
at 1200 GMT. The government could start talks on the 2011 budget
on Wednesday, deputy finance minister Gheorghe Gherghina said.

The finance ministry will suggest a budget revision to
re-allocate expenditure funds at the end of the month, at the
end of the upcoming IMF mission visit to review Romania’s 20
billion euros aid package, Gherghina said.

The budget revenue target for this year will be met, he

The government will ask parliament for a confidence vote on
its education reform package, Prime Minister Emil Boc said on
Tuesday. The procedure aims to speed up approval, but the
government risks not passing the vote and stepping down.


A German company could open a plant in the Transylvanian
region in central Romania, the head of Romanian’s car makers’
association Constantin Stroe said.

Local media have cited “market sources” as saying the firm
was German car producer BMW, planning to open an engine factory,
at an initial investment of 100 million euros that will reach in
time 1 billion euros and create 15,000 jobs.
