GAS PIPELINE

Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc and his Hungarian
counterpart Viktor Orban, along EU Energy Commissioner Gunther
Oettinger will attend the launch of a gas pipeline that connects
Romania to neighbouring Hungary, allowing it to import gas.

ECONOMIC SEMINAR

President Traian Basescu and EU Farm Commissioner Dacian
Ciolos are expected to attend a conference on competition in the
main sectors of the Romanian economy. Ciolos will hold the
opening speech.

ROMANIA C/A DEFICIT WIDENS 48.7 PCT Y/Y IN JAN-AUG

Romania’s current account deficit widened 48.7 percent
year-on-year to 4.1 billion euros ($5.68 billion) in the first
eight months of the year, central bank data showed on Wednesday.

GAZPROM CEO: NO DOUBTS ON SOUTH STREAM FINANCE

Gazprom (GAZP.MM: ) Chief Executive Alexei Miller said on
Wednesday he has no doubts over the financing of the South
Stream gas pipeline project or that it will be finished on time
in 2015.

After meeting Romanian government officials, Miller told
reporters the Russian gas export monopoly had signed a deal with
Romania which brings the southeast European country a step

2011 BUDGET

The government started talks on the 2011 budget draft at the
Wednesday government meeting. The draft envisages an economic
growth of 1.5 percent of the GDP for next year and budget
revenues of 176 billion lei ($57.40 billion).

Up to 3,000 finance ministry employees in Bucharest and some
Romanian counties have stopped work on Wednesday afternoon to
protest against bonus cuts.
