Spain’s Amper could take over U.S. IT peer eLandia

MADRID, May 24 (BestGrowthStock) – Spanish telecoms firm Amper
(APE.MC: ) has struck a deal with U.S. rival eLandia International
Inc which will boost its footprint in Latin America and could
lead it to take a majority stake in the company, Amper said on
Monday.

The strategic agreement will give Amper’s Medidata unit
access to the thirteen Latin American countries where eLandia
operates in the telecoms infrastructure markets, in exchange for
access to its Brazilian business.

“Both companies will have the chance to offer their combined
portfolio of products, services and technology solutions
throughout Latin America,” Amper said in a statement.

Amper has paid eLandia a $5 million deposit to guarantee
exclusivity in any talks to acquire a controlling stake in the
U.S. company until June 26, which will be returned if the deal
does not go ahead.
