Syrian forces break up protest in Hama

AMMAN (Reuters) – Syrian security forces on Friday used water cannon and smoke bombs to break up a protest in Hama, the city where thousands of people were killed in 1982.

Residents said the pro-democracy demonstration by 2,000 people took place in the old quarter of the city, which was razed by security forces putting down an uprising led by the Muslim Brotherhood.
