Taiwan’s AU to seek injunction in LG’s U.S. sales

TAIPEI, May 2 (BestGrowthStock) – Taiwan LCD maker AU Optronics
Corp (2409.TW: ) plans to seek an injunction preventing Korean
rival LG Display Co. Ltd (034220.KS: ) from selling some products
in the United States after winning a patent dispute, AU said on
Sunday.

AU said in a statement that following a finding by a United
States court in February that LG Display infringed all 4 of the
AUO patents asserted at trial, the court further concluded on
April 30, 2010 that AU did not infringe any of the 4 patents
asserted at trial by LG.

Based on the findings, AU will seek an injunction
preventing LG from exporting to and selling in the United
States products found to have infringed AU’s patented
technologies, it said.

The dispute, dating from 2006, centred on patents covering
technologies to improve the response time of liquid crystals
and their reliability, among others.

Last month LG Display and AU signalled robust sector
recovery after smashing quarterly profit forecasts due to hot
Chinese demand for flat-screen televisions.
