TD Chairman Thompson to step down Jan. 1

* Thompson became chairman of Canada’s No. 2 bank in 2003

* To be succeeded by current board member Brian Levitt

TORONTO, Sept 28 (BestGrowthStock) – Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD.TO: )
said on Tuesday that its chairman, John Thompson, is stepping
down, and will be replaced by lawyer Brian Levitt, who is
already on the bank’s board.

Thompson, a former IBM (IBM.N: ) executive and board member,
became TD’s nonexecutive chairman in 2003.

The bank, Canada No. 2 lender, said in a statement that
Thompson had decided “as part of an orderly board succession,
to step down”.

Thompson also serves on the board of Thomson Reuters Corp
(TRI.TO: ).

Levitt, who is a partner at law firm Osler, Hoskin and
Harcourt LLP, will take over as chairman on Jan. 1. He joined
TD’s board in 2008.
