UK Stocks — Factors to watch on July 13

LONDON, July 13 (BestGrowthStock) – Britain’s FTSE 100 (.FTSE: ) is seen gaining 20-35
points, or 0.7 percent on Tuesday, set for a sixth day of gains, with firm
results overnight from U.S. aluminium producer Alcoa (AA.N: ) lifting optimism at
the start of the second-quarter earnings season.

The FTSE 100 (.FTSE: ) index gained 34.08 points, or 0.7 percent on Monday to
close at 5,167.02.

U.S. stocks (Read more about the stock market today. ) posted modest gains on Monday, cautiously awaiting the earnings
news and, after the Wall Street close, Alcoa (AA.N: ), the largest U.S. aluminium
producer, delivered by lifting its outlook for global consumption of the metal
and posting surprisingly strong quarterly results.

However, Asian stocks failed to benefit as Chinese stocks slipped 2 percent
on Tuesday on reports that Beijing will not relax tougher property measures any
time soon. This helped push Japan’s Nikkei 225 (.N225: ) down 0.3 percent.

Signs of a cooling British economy came from house price data released
overnight. Weaker demand and increasing supply cooled British house price growth
last month and pushed future price expectations to their lowest in more than a
year, a survey from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors showed on
Tuesday. [ID:nL2635039]

Investors will watch British inflation data released at 0830 GMT for further
evidence on the state of the UK economy and the outlook for monetary policy at a
time when interest rates are being held at a record low of 0.5 percent.

Analysts polled by Reuters forecast a median 0.1 percent rise for CPI
month-on-month in June, and 3.2 percent for the year.

Shares in BP (BP.L: ) are likely to enjoy further support after jumping over 9
percent on Monday after it said on late on Monday it had installed and was ready
to test a cap that, if successful, would for the first time stop the oil spewing
from its ruptured well on the floor of the Gulf of Mexico.
