UK Stocks — Factors to watch on May 21

LONDON, May 21 (BestGrowthStock) – Britain’s FTSE 100 (.FTSE: ) index is seen falling
on Friday, extending the previous two sessions’ losses, tracking sharp overnight
declines on Wall Street and in Asia on concerns over the euro zone’s handling of
the sovereign debt crisis.

The UK blue chip index looks set to shed 45 to 53 points, or as much as 1
percent, according to financial bookmakers. It ended down 84.95 points, or 1.7
percent, at 5,073.13 on Thursday, its lowest close since Feb. 5, having fallen
2.8 percent on Wednesday.

U.S. stocks (Read more about the stock market today. ) sank nearly 4 percent on Thursday, and Japan’s Nikkei average
index (.N225: ) dropped 2.4 percent on Friday amid growing fears the euro zone’s
efforts to tackle its sovereign debt crisis will fall short, jeopardizing the
global economic recovery.

The U.S. Senate approved a sweeping Wall Street reform bill on Thursday
night, capping months of wrangling over the biggest overhaul of financial

In terms of domestic economic data, investors were waiting for April public
sector finances, due at 0830 GMT. No significant U.S. data is scheduled for
release on Friday.
