UPDATE 1-Air Methods sees weak Q4, shares fall

* Total community-based patient transports fall

* Shares down as much as 14 pct

Jan 26 (BestGrowthStock) – Air Methods Corp (AIRM.O: ) said it does
not expect its fourth-quarter net earnings to grow from last
year, implying that the air ambulance operator will miss
analyst expectations, sending its shares down as much as 14
percent.

The company, which reported fourth-quarter earnings of 30
cents a share last year, said its results would be hit by
adverse weather conditions.

Analysts on average expect the company to report earnings
of 44 cents a share for the fourth quarter of 2009, according
to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

However, preliminary full year results still represent
significant growth in earnings compared with the previous year,
Chief Executive Aaron Todd said.

Air Methods said total community-based patient transports
were 9,015 in the fourth quarter, down 5 percent from last
year.

The company’s community-based services provide air medical
transportation services to the general population as an
independent service.

Patients transported for community bases in operation
greater than one year decreased 799 transports, or 9 percent,
while weather cancellations for these bases increased by 781
compared with the prior-year quarter.

Air Methods’ shares were down $2.74 at $31.05 during
morning trade on Nasdaq. They touched a low of $29.00 earlier
in the session.
