9.1 percent in the same period of 2009 as the economy
rebounded, President Cristina Fernandez said on Friday.

Unemployment has fallen as Latin America’s No. 3 economy
recovers from the impact of last year’s global economic crisis.
The government foresees growth of about 9 percent in 2010.

Argentina’s jobless rate fell to 7.9 percent in the second
quarter from 8.8 percent in the same period of 2009,
government’s statistics agency said in August.

Private economists accuse the government of releasing
overly optimistic data on unemployment, economic growth and
industrial output for political gain, while at the same time
under-reporting inflation.

Fernandez’s government has denied any tampering with
official statistics.
