(Adds quotes, details, background)

BUENOS AIRES, Aug 13 (BestGrowthStock) – Argentine inflation
(ARCPI=ECI: ) rose to 0.8 percent in July after marking 0.7
percent the previous month, the INDEC national statistics
agency said on Friday.

The result matched market expectations. A Reuters poll of
13 market analysts gave a median forecast of 0.8 percent for
the month, with estimates ranging from 0.7 percent to 1.7
percent.

The biggest consumer price gains in July were in leisure
and apparel, which increased 3.9 percent and 1.1 percent,
respectively. Prices for food and beverages, the most heavily
weighted item in the index, rose 0.7 percent.

Argentina’s real inflation is widely believed to far exceed
the rate reported in official statistics. According to
estimates by local economists, “true” inflation in July was in
the 1.6 percent to 1.9 percent range.

Economic analysts and opposition figures accuse the
government of low-balling inflation to save money on
inflation-indexed debt repayments.
