UPDATE 1-Bloomberg to build office near Bank of England-FT

(Updates with Bloomberg comment)

LONDON, Dec 4 (BestGrowthStock) – Global news agency and media group
Bloomberg has signed a deal to build a new European headquarters
close to the Bank of England in the city of London, the
Financial Times reported on Saturday.

The paper said the bespoke offices will be built on the
former Bucklersbury House site owned by British life insurer
Legal and General (LGEN.L: ). The site is being demolished to make
way for the development, the paper said without citing sources.

A spokeswoman for Bloomberg, which is basedin the United
States, would not confirm or deny the report, but said through
an email from Washington more might be said on the matter at a
later date.

The FT said the deal, that follows months of negotiations,
could be announced as early as next week. Foster & Partners, the
London-based architects, has been chosen to design the scheme.

The paper said new premises were needed because the group
had outgrown its existing home near Moorgate in the City.

According to the report the building has to be large enough
to house modern media services, such as studios for its TV
facilities, with office space expected to be as large as a
500,000 sq ft (46,450 sq metre).

The FT said Bloomberg had grown significantly since moving
to Moorgate with terminal subscriber numbers recovering from a
post financial crisis dip to reach a fresh record of 287,500.
The firm has recently expanded into Bloomberg Law and Business
Week, it said.
