SAO PAULO, Sept 8 (BestGrowthStock) – Brazil’s production of new
cars and trucks rose for a second straight month in August,
while sales set a monthly record, as automakers sought to meet
rising demand for new vehicles in domestic and international
markets, data showed on Wednesday.

Output climbed 3.4 percent in August from July to 329,100
vehicles and was up 11.5 percent from a year earlier,
automakers’ association Anfavea said.

Brazil’s automobile market has benefited from a boom in
domestic credit and low unemployment that has stoked demand for
new cars the past year. Export sales also have surged as major
global markets resumed growth this year.

Sales rose 3.5 percent month-on-month and surged 21.2
percent to 321,800 vehicles to a record for the month of
August, Anfavea said. Exports firmed 0.8 percent in August from
July and jumped nearly 55 percent from a year before to $1.14
billion.

Brazil, Latin America’s largest economy, is a major market
for global automakers such as Italy’s Fiat SpA (FIA.MI: ),
Germany’s Volkswagen AG (VOWG.DE: ) and U.S.-based General Motors
Co [GM.UL] and Ford Motor Co (F.N: ).

Fiat kept the top spot in Brazil’s market with sales of
69,709 new cars and light trucks in August, down 0.5 percent
from July, while VW sales rose 2.8 percent to 62,147.

GM sold 55,520 vehicles, up 1.5 percent month-on-month,
while Ford sold 29,418 vehicles, a 2.6 percent increase.
