UPDATE 1-Citi appoints Cece Stewart president of U.S. bank

NEW YORK, Sept 13 (BestGrowthStock) – Citigroup Inc (C.N: ) has
appointed Cecelia “Cece” Stewart, a veteran retail banking
executive at Morgan Stanley (MS.N: ) (Read more about the money market today. ) and Wachovia Corp (WB.BA: ),
as president of U.S. consumer and commercial banking, the
company said on Monday.

Stewart was most recently Morgan Stanley’s president of the
retail banking group and chief executive of its private bank.
She joined Morgan in November 2008, after running Wachovia’s
retail bank operations for five years as executive vice
president and head of retail and small business banking.

Wells Fargo & Co (WFC.N: ) bought Wachovia at the height of
the financial crisis in late 2008.

Stewart, whose previous surname was Sutton, will report to
Manuel Medina-Mora, Citigroup’s chief executive officer of
consumer banking for the Americas. She will also sit on the
bank’s global consumer banking counsel once she starts her new
role, which Citigroup said will be “in the next few months.”

Citigroup also said it has hired Will Howle as chief
operating officer for U.S. consumer and commercial banking.
Howle, who will report to Stewart, followed her from both
Wachovia and Morgan Stanley. He was chief operating officer of
Wachovia’s retail and small business segments, and managing
director and head of national sales for Morgan Stanley’s
private bank.

Citigroup shares were up 9 cents at $4 on Monday morning.
