UPDATE 1-Colombia 2009 central govt deficit 4.2 pct of GDP

(Adds context)

BOGOTA, April 8 (BestGrowthStock) – Colombia had a central
government fiscal deficit of 4.2 percent of gross domestic
product in 2009, slightly above the official forecast, the
finance ministry said on Thursday.

In January Finance Minister Oscar Zuluaga predicted a
deficit of 4.1 percent for 2009.

The country’s consolidated fiscal deficit was 2.8 percent
of GDP last year, a tad higher than the 2.7 percent forecast in
January, the ministry said in a statement.

The consolidated deficit includes results from state-owned
enterprises, while the central government deficit accounts only
for government ministries.
