(Adds details)

BOGOTA, March 31 (Reuters) – Colombia’s urban jobless rate
— the country’s most closely watched unemployment indicator —
fell to 13.2 percent in February versus 13.4 percent in the
same month last year, the government said on Thursday.

The less-referenced national unemployment rate, however,
increased to 12.8 percent last month versus 12.6 percent in
February last year, the DANE statistics agency said..

About 70 percent of jobs are in Colombia’s 13 main cities.

In January, urban unemployment was 14.7 percent while the
national jobless rate was 13.5 percent. [ID:nN28266595]

The jobless rate, one of the highest in the region, is seen
as a key challenge for the government of President Juan Manuel
Santos, which has promised to create over two million jobs.
