HOUSTON, Oct 29 (BestGrowthStock) – ConocoPhillips (COP.N: ) 238,000
barrel per day Bayway refinery in Linden, New Jersey, lost
external power for a second time this week, a New Jersey
Environmental Protection Department spokesman said on Friday.

The refinery’s electrical power was being maintained by the
on-site co-generation unit, said Larry Ragonese, chief
spokesman for the NJDEP.

The refinery was not in production on Friday, Ragonese
said.

The refinery lost power on Monday, but power was restored
on Tuesday.

“I’m not aware of a second outage,” Conoco spokesman Bill
Stephens said in a statement.

A portion of the refinery was shut prior to the power
outage for a planned overhaul set to finish by Nov 15. That
work will now likely take through the end of the month to
finish, sources told Reuters on Friday.

NJDEP was told of the loss of external power by both
external power provider Public Service Enterprise Group (PEG.N: )
and Conoco, Ragonese said.

The loss of power was due to a transformer tripping
offline, he said.

“The main power comes from PSEG,” Ragonese said. “They’re
getting enough power to maintain their systems from the co-gen
plant. They’re not doing any refining today.”
