* Growth seen pushed mainly by new Africa projects

* To undertake joint ventures with other miners

(Adds details)

CAPE TOWN, Feb 3 (BestGrowthStock) – Canadian mid-tier gold miner
IAMGOLD Corp (IMG.TO: ) plans to lift its gold production to about
1.0 million ounces in 2010 from 939,000 ounces last year after
starting operations at a new mine in Burkina Faso, it said on
Wednesday.

“For 2009, we were at 939,000 ounces and going forward for
2010, our target is 942,000 ounces to a million ounces,”
IAMGOLD’s Managing Director for Africa Brian Chandler told
Reuters in Cape Town on the sidelines of a mining conference.

Chandler said the Essakane gold mine in Burkina Faso was due
to start producing gold anytime in 2010 and the mine would help
lift IAMGOLD’s output and that several other projects in Mali
were currently in the pipeline.

Chandler told a mining conference that IMAGOLD was
undertaking joint venture projects with AngloGold Ashanti
(ANGJ.J: ) and Goldfields (GFIJ.J: ) in Mali and Ghana in a bid to
grow its African mine protfolio.

Chandler said a succesful feasibility study would lead to
construction in the fourth quarter of 2010 at the Sadiola Deeps
project in Mali with a new plant expected to start operating in
mid-2010.

The company was also expanding a mill at its Niobec mine in
Canada and that project was anticipated to raise the mine’s
output by 25 percent in the third quarter of this year, he said.

“We have a solid growth pipeline … we see growth in Africa
very positive for IAMGOLD,” Chandler said.
