UPDATE 1-Mexico May industrial output +0.5 pct vs April

(Adds revised reading for April, background)

MEXICO CITY, July 12 (BestGrowthStock) – Mexican industry grew for
the fourth straight month in May, as U.S. demand for
Mexican-made cars and televisions powered the nation’s recovery
from recession, data showed on Monday.

Industrial output rose 0.5 percent in Mexico during May
from April (MXIP=ECI: ), the national statistics agency said.

The reading left output 8.4 percent higher than the same
month a year earlier (MXIPY=ECI: ). Analysts polled by Reuters
had predicted an annual increase of 7.2 percent.

The statistics agency also revised the April reading to
show that production rose 0.1 percent from March, rather than
falling 0.3 percent as originially reported.
