UPDATE 1-Minera Andes posts lower production from Argentina mine

* Silver production down 37 pct

* Gold production slips 1 pct

* Lower production due to delay in mine development

April 21 (BestGrowthStock) – Gold and silver exploration company
Minera Andes Inc (MAI.TO: ) reported lower quarterly production
from San Jose mine in Argentina due to delay in mine
development.

Minera Andes said the delay in underground mine development
has held up access to certain higher grade stoping areas.

For the first quarter, overall silver production at the
mine fell 37 percent to 823,000 ounces and gold production
dropped 1 percent to 16,430 ounces.

The San Jose project is operated by Minera Santa Cruz SA,
which is 51 percent owned by Hochschild Mining plc (HOCM.L: ) and
49 percent by Minera Andes.

Minera Andes shares were down 1 Canadian cent at C$1.04
Wednesday afternoon on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
