* Probe involves derivative transactions

* Nomura says cooperating fully with prosecutor

(Adds Nomura statement)

MILAN, Feb 4 (BestGrowthStock) – Several Nomura (8604.T: ) managers
are being investigated for possible aggravated fraud in
derivatives transactions with Italy’s Liguria region, two
investigative and one judicial source told Reuters on Thursday.

Financial police have visited the offices of the Liguria
regional government at the request of Milan investigating
magistrate Alfredo Robledo, the sources said.

Nomura said it was cooperating with the magistrate.

“As has been acknowledged by the prosecutor in this matter,
Nomura has cooperated fully with him since the inception of this
industry-wide investigation,” a Nomura spokeswoman said in an
emailed statement.

“Nomura will continue to do so and, given the investigation
remains ongoing, considers it inappropriate to comment further,”
she said.

This probe comes amid a raft of inquiries throughout Italy
after local governments racked up hefty losses on derivatives
contracts.
