PARIS, Oct 22 (BestGrowthStock) – French telecoms operator Orange
(FTE.PA: ) aims to sell its TV movie channels by January and is
in advanced talks with pay-TV group Canal Plus (VIV.PA: ),
Orange’s content director told La Tribune in an interview.

The disposal is part of Orange’s strategy to retreat after
a costly battle against Canal Plus on the pay-TV market.

Orange is in talks with Canal Plus about a possible merger
of its Orange Cinema channel with Canal Plus’s TPS star.

“We have made contact with most players, including an
important American one,” Xavier Couture told the French
business daily.

“But as of today, only Canal Plus and the head of the
channels have formally expressed interest.

Talks with Canal Plus are the most advanced of all and make
the most industrial sense.”

Separately, Le Figaro.fr said on Friday that Swedish
investment fund Parsifal AB would be prepared to back an offer
made by the staff of Orange Cinema Series and had written to
France Telecom’s CEO Stephane Richard to say so.

France Telecom had no immediate comment.
