UPDATE 1-Tesoro sees Anacortes at planned rates by mid-Nov

(Adds executive comment, details)

HOUSTON, Nov 5 (BestGrowthStock) – Tesoro Corp (TSO.N: ) said on
Friday it was restarting its 120,000 barrel per day refinery in
Anacortess, Washington, which was expected to reached planned
throughout rates by Nov. 13.

Tesoro began restarting the Anacortes refinery on Oct. 17,
after it was shut for six months following a deadly April 2
explosion in a naphtha hydrotreater that claimed the lives of
seven workers.

The restart was planned to finish by the end of October,
but an Oct. 24 explosion in a boiler unit delayed the restart’s
completion.

The company planned to run the refinery below capacity in
the winter due to expected lower seasonal demand on the West
Coast.

“When we get into the winter months, we start watching
where the market demand goes and we match our throughputs to
our market positions in both Alaska and the (Pacific)
Northwest,” said Everitt Lewis, executive vice president and
chief operating officer, during a conference call to discuss
third quarter earnings.

“So we see lower rates typically for both of those
facilities than we do in the summer months,” Lewis said. “While
we have the capability to run Anacortes at higher rates, we
won’t be running at full rates in the wintertime.”
