Nov 1 (BestGrowthStock) – Data communications company TNS Inc
(TNS.N: ) posted a lower-than-expected quarterly profit, hurt by
decreased sales from its telecommunication and payments
division, and lowered its 2010 profit outlook for the second
time in a year.

The company, which provides secure data and voice
transmission services for institutions, lowered its fiscal 2010
adjusted profit forecast to $2.33-$2.38 a share, from its
earlier view of $2.38-$2.48 a share.

The company, whose rival Syniverse Technologies (SVR.N: ) is
being taken private by Carlyle Group [CYL.UL] for $2.6 billion
[ID:nN28131254], raised its revenue view to $526-$529 million,
from its earlier view of $521-$526 million.

Third-quarter net income rose 25 percent to $4 million, or
15 cents a share. Excluding items, the company earned 46 cents
a share.

Revenue fell 6 percent to $131.2 million. Revenue from
telecommunication services, its biggest segment contributing 45
percent, fell 11 percent, while that from second-largest
payments division fell 2.4 percent.

Analysts on average were expecting earnings of 54 cents a
share, excluding items, on revenue of $130.9 million, according
to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Shares of the Reston, Virginia-based company, which have
gained 22 percent of its market value since it acquired Cequint
in September. They closed at $19.26 Monday on the New York
Stock Exchange.
