BANGALORE, Jan 27 (BestGrowthStock) – Business software maker BMC
Software Inc (BMC.O: ) posted better-than-expected quarterly
results as bookings rose, and raised its fiscal 2010 profit
outlook for the third time in a year.

BMC, which provides software to automate data center
operations, said third-quarter bookings were up 18 percent at
$539 million.

“We saw a little bit improvement in corporate IT spending.
The industry analysts and our conversations with customers
point to a better spending environment in 2010 than we saw in
2009,” Chief Executive Bob Beauchamp told Reuters by phone.

For fiscal 2010 ending March 31, BMC now expects adjusted
earnings of $2.64 to $2.72 per share compared with its prior
outlook of $2.55 to $2.65 per share.

BMC reiterated its 2010 outlook for total bookings and
revenue growth in the low-single digits, and said it expects
full year cash flow from operations to be between $600 million
and $650 million, unchanged from its prior forecast.

Looking ahead, Beauchamp said the company sees better
top-line performance throughout fiscal 2011.

For the third quarter ended Dec. 31, net income was $111
million, or 59 cents a share, compared with $84 million or 44
cents a share in the year-ago period.

Excluding items, earnings were 76 cents a share, beating
analyst expectations of 68 cents a share, according to Thomson
Reuters I/B/E/S. [ID:nWNAB9208]

Shares of the Houston-based company closed at $37.24
Wednesday on Nasdaq.
