UPDATE 2-Polaris profit tops estimates; raises outlook

CHICAGO, Oct 19 (BestGrowthStock) – Polaris Industries Inc (PII.N: )
reported a stronger-than-expected quarterly profit on Tuesday,
and raised its full-year forecast, citing a big jump in sales
of off-road, all-terrain vehicles.

The company, which also makes snowmobiles and motorcycles,
reported a third-quarter profit (Read more your timing to make a profit.) of $47.2 million, or $1.37 a
share, up from $31.2 million, or 94 cents a share, last year.

Sales rose 33 percent to $580.1 million.

Analysts, on average, expected the Minneapolis-based
company to report a profit of $1.14 a share, according to
Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

The company also said it was raising its full-year profit
forecast to $4.17 to $4.20 a share. Analysts, on average, were
expecting Polaris to post a full-year profit of $3.87 a share,
according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Sales of its off-road vehicles jumped 49 percent to $389.3
million and sales of its Victory brand motorcycles, a distant
rival of Harley-Davidson Inc (HOG.N: ), soared 116 percent to
$20.1 million.

Polaris said pricing power, lower product costs and
favorable currency swings helped increase it gross margin by
nearly 2 percentage points during the quarter.
