US junk bond funds see $1.69 bln outflows-LipperFMI

NEW YORK, May 13 (BestGrowthStock) U.S. junk bond mutual funds
reported net outflows of $1.69 billion in the week ended May
12, following a $127 million outflow the previous week,
LipperFMI reported.

Junk bonds, which are rated below investment grade and pay
higher yields to compensate for their risk, have lost 1.65
percent in May so far, according to Bank of America Merrill
Lynch indexes.

But junk bonds have recorded investment returns of 5.4
percent year-to-date after gaining more than 57 percent in
2009, the best performance on record, according to BofA Merrill
Lynch.
