US STOCKS SNAPSHOT-Wall St hits session highs

NEW YORK, March 23 (Reuters) – U.S. stocks hit session
highs on Wednesday as a rise in mining and energy shares offset
worries about unrest in the Middle East and North Africa, while
analysts saw more gains in oil ahead.

The Dow Jones industrial average (.DJI: Quote, Profile, Research) gained 79.62
points, or 0.66 percent, to 12,098.25. The Standard & Poor’s
500 Index (.SPX: Quote, Profile, Research) gained 4.79 points, or 0.37 percent, to
1,298.56. The Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC: Quote, Profile, Research) gained 16.65
points, or 0.62 percent, to 2,700.52.
