US STOCKS SNAPSHOT-Wall St rises on economy optimism

 NEW YORK, April 1 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose on Friday
after employment notched a second straight month of solid gains
and a gauge of manufacturing rose more than expected, lifting
optimism about the economy.
 The Dow Jones industrial average (.DJI: Quote, Profile, Research) gained 56.16
points, or 0.46 percent, to 12,375.89. The Standard & Poor's
500 Index (.SPX: Quote, Profile, Research) gained 8.10 points, or 0.61 percent, to
1,333.93. The Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC: Quote, Profile, Research) gained 10.43
points, or 0.38 percent, to 2,791.50.
