Valero doesn’t see fuel shortage after Quebec fire

CALGARY, Alberta, Feb 2 (BestGrowthStock) – Quebec is not expected
to be hit with gasoline shortages as a result of a fire that
damaged the Canadian province’s biggest refinery, a spokesman
for the company that operates the refinery said on Tuesday.

Ultramar, owned by U.S. refiner Valero Energy Corp (VLO.N: ),
has plenty of inventory at the Quebec City-area refinery, at
its terminal in Montreal and elsewhere, spokesman Louis Forget
said. In addition, other refineries in Quebec are operating
under capacity, Forget said.

“So if at one point in time we need it, which we don’t feel
we will, we could borrow product from them, or we could
import,” he said. “But at the present time we don’t feel we
will need it, so there’s no concern for supply.”

Apart from the damaged 66,000 barrel a day fluid catalytic
cracker, the refinery is still operational, he said.
