Valero says McKee flaring won’t hurt production

HOUSTON, Jan 29 (BestGrowthStock) – Valero Energy Corp (VLO.N: )
reported flaring caused by “extreme freezing temperatures” when
an off gas line froze and backed out of the off gas from
several refining units at its 170,000 barrel-per-day (bpd)
McKee refinery in Sunray, Texas, according to a filing with
Texas pollution regulators.

Valero spokesman Bill Day said there was no production
impact from the flaring.

The filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental
Quality said that while the line was frozen, the off gas was
directed to the fluidic catalytic converter flare. A de-icing
agent and steam were used to thaw the line.
