Wal-Mart recalls 2.2 million electric heaters

WASHINGTON (BestGrowthStock) – Wal-Mart stores is recalling about 2.2 million electric heaters due to possible fire and smoke hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday.

In announcing the voluntary recall, the CPSC said: “Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.”

“The heaters can malfunction resulting in overheating, smoking, burning, melting and fire,” the CPSC also said on its website. http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml11/11069.html

The heaters, manufactured in China, were sold at Wal-Mart stores nationwide from 2001 through 2009.

The recall involves Flow Pro, Airtech, Aloha Breeze and Comfort Essentials 1500 watt heaters, the CPSC said.

It said Wal-Mart had received 21 reports of incidents involving the heaters, 11 including property damage beyond the heaters themselves and four involving injuries.
