Western Wind to buy 60 wind turbines from Gamesa

* Wind energy project based in southern California

* No price given for contract

VANCOUVER, Dec 20 (BestGrowthStock) – Western Wind Energy Corp
(WND.V: ) said on Monday it has chosen Spain’s Gamesa Corporacion
Tecnologica SA (GAM.MC: ) to supply 60 two-megawatt wind turbine
generators for its Windstar wind project in southern
California.

No price was given for the contract, which includes Gamesa
supervising the construction of the 120-MW project at
Tehachapi, California, near the city of Bakersfield. They will
also provide maintenance and operation services for 10 years.

Western Wind has a 20-year agreement to supply electricity
to Southern California Edison from the Windstar project, which
will have capacity to power about 30,000 homes.

Last week, the small Vancouver-based wind energy developer
said it had secured financing of C$275 million ($270 million)
for the project.

Profit at Gamesa has suffered recently because of rising
competition from Chinese turbine makers and a lackluster global
economy that has depressed demand.
