Workers strike for higher pay at Omron Guangzhou factory

GUANGZHOU, China, July 21 (BestGrowthStock) – Workers at a southern
Chinese factory owned by Japanese electronics firm Omron
(6645.OS: ) have gone on strike, demanding a 40 percent pay
increase, employees said on Wednesday.

The walkout began Wednesday morning, said two factory
workers, who declined to give their names because of concerns
about retribution from management.

The strikers are demanding a pay raise of 500 yuan ($74) per
month from their current salary of 1,270 yuan.

According to the company’s website, Omron’s Guangzhou factory
produces automotive electronic components.
